Duct
Efficiency
|
|
Residential air conditioning
is the single biggest
contributor to the peak
electricity load in Texas.
An average Texas duct system
wastes about 40% of the
power it consumes on hot
days. About half of this
peak loss can be saved by
sealing the air leaks in
ducts. The other half can be
saved by insulating ducts
and tuning-up the home's
cooling system. |

Radiant
Barrier
|
After the installation of
Radiant Barrier, the
percentage of reduction of
utility bills have been
shown to be between 10 and
17 percent.
(assuming an existing
minimum R-19 insulation
level.) |

Lighting
|
CFL's have the following
advantages over incandescent
light bulbs when used
properly: they last up to 10
times longer, use about 1/4
the energy, and produce 90%
less heat, while producing
more light per watt. For
example, a 27 watt replaces
a 100 watt incandescent
lamp. |
